Lunch-N-Learn: "Surviving in the Spotlight" 2010-09-10 |
Newton Medical Center (Prairie Room)
12:00PM - 1:00PM
It should be no surprise that at some point most of us will have to speak in front of a group of people. Whether it is a sales pitch, business report or public apology, knowing how to handle yourself in front of a crowd is vital. Don Swender, public speaking instructor at Hutchinson Community College, will provide tips to keep cool, have a focused topic and give a great quality presentation despite the number of faces looking back at you. |

Lunch-N-Learn: "Healthy Living at Work" 2010-10-08 |
Carriage Factory Art Gallery
12:00PM - 1:00PM
More and more employers are trying to improve employees' loyalty,
productivity and performance by creating a healthier organizational
environment. And busy employees are seeking ways to improve their health and fitness while they're still on the clock. Renee Ybarra of the Harvey County Health Department will lead a discussion on how you can incorporate wellness into your workday.
Lunch will be provided by the Harvey County Wellness Coalition, so please RSVP to Jennifer at 283-2560.

This will be our second year for this event and this year we are adding a little twist. If you think wine is just too 'high brow' for you then come for the beer! This year we will divide up the tables to have wines and beers so there will be something available for everyone.
Find a beverage you like and place an order for the upcoming holidays while proceeds go to support the Newton Young Professionals.

NYP Philanthropy Committee project
|
-
The Newton Young Professionals are doing their part to help the community yet again! We will be participating in the Community Pride program by maintaining the creek banks between 5th Street and Ash Street bridges for the next 2 years. This means we will get together at least three times a year to keep Newton a beautiful place to work and live. The City will be putting up a sign reflecting our care/responsibility for the area and spreading the word about NYP.
Let us know if you are interested in helping!

NYP's Back Stage Pass
|
-
The Newton Young Professionals see the importance of recruiting and keeping qualified young professionals in Newton. In an effort to do our part, the NYP is partnering with the Newton Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau when potential employees come to town. Members of the NYP will take the candidates around town to visit some of the local shops and restaurants and give a behind the scenes look at Newton. This is our chance to help make a personal connection with these recruits, which can make all the difference in where they eventually choose to relocate.
The time commitment for this project is minimal and will involve going out with other YPs for a short afternoon and/or evening, including dinner and possibly drinks afterward. If you are interested in this project and have suggestions of what our outings should include, please let us know!
